JIC Venture Growth Investments has made an additional investment in TeraWatt Technology Inc. (TeraWatt Technology), through its JIC Venture Growth Fund 2.

TeraWatt Technology is at the forefront of this innovation, dedicated to advancing next-generation lithium-ion battery technology. Its focus is on delivering batteries that are not only significantly lighter and more compact, but also exhibit enhanced power output and operational safety compared to conventional solutions. The company's mission is to accelerate the commercialization of these advanced batteries and set a new standard for energy storage.

As a Japan-based startup, TeraWatt Technology benefits from the strategic backing of globally recognized investors, including Temasek and Khosla Ventures—both of whom have demonstrated extensive experience and success in fostering innovation within the next-generation battery sector.

The anticipated commercialization of TeraWatt Technology’s advanced lithium-ion batteries is expected to make a substantial contribution to the realization of a carbon-neutral society, while also catalyzing the evolution of Japan’s battery industry.

With the invested funds, TeraWatt Technology plans to expand its production capacity by strengthening its mass production infrastructure for commercial-ready next-generation batteries. The company will also accelerate collaboration with customers through commercial-scale pilot testing. VGI will support TeraWatt Technology in accelerating their research and development efforts and business execution, with the aim of making it a model case of a globally recognized deep tech startup from Japan.
