JIC Venture Growth Investments (VGI) has acquired the shares in Orange Inc. (Orange), through its JIC Venture Growth Fund 2 (VGF2).

Orange is a deep tech startup with the mission of “Creating a world where everyone enjoys manga”, developing unique manga-specific generative AI models using computer vision and natural language processing technologies with a team of the world's best AI engineers.

Over the years, Japan has produced many high-quality manga works that have been enjoyed by a wide range of readers. However, due to the high cost and time required to localize these works, only a small percentage of them are published in foreign languages, and most of them cannot be read in languages other than Japanese. By utilizing the unique manga-specific generative AI model developed by Orange, most of the traditional manga localization process can be automated, enabling many localizations to be done overwhelmingly quickly and inexpensively, while maintaining high translation quality.

Through this investment, Orange will develop a localization system for the multilingual development of manga, translate a large number of manga works using its own localization system, and develop and operate a platform to distribute a large number of manga works to overseas markets. VGI expects that through its support for Orange, a large number of high-quality manga works that have been buried in Japan will be localized into multiple languages and disseminated to the world, thereby contributing to strengthening the competitiveness of the Japanese content industry.
