JIC Venture Growth Investments has acquired the shares in "Gaianixx, Inc.", which aims for social implementation of pluripotent® interlayer films* , bringing innovation to semiconductors.”

JIC Venture Growth Investments (VGI) hasacquired the shares in Gaianixx, Inc. (GNX), through its JIC Venture Growth Fund 2 (VGF2).

GNX is a deep-tech venture company from the University of Tokyo that researches and develops pluripotent interlayers and epitaxial**. The further spread of the digital society in Japan and around the world is expected to be accompanied by an increase in power consumption, making it an urgent issue to improve the performance of semiconductors and reduce power consumption. The unique interlayer film enables to achieve high-quality thin film, which has been considered difficult in the past. They have the potential to become the basis for next-generation electronic devices, sensors, and energy harvesting, by improving the performance of semiconductors compared to conventional products. They already have several semiconductor pipelines and are already collaborating with business companies. We will promote research and development for market launch and expand new pipelines for social implementation.

The purpose of VGI's investment in GNX is to realize the social implementation of their technologies and contribute to the digital society and reduction of electricity consumption.

VGI would like to support GNX to accelerate the research and development and contribute to the revitalization of the venture ecosystem in Japan.

* GNX's unique interlayer film which generates twin martensitic fluctuations driven by the lattice mismatch between the substrate and semiconductor film to relax the lattice mismatch and crystallize the upper semiconductor film to high quality.
